there were these three girls i was really close to in high school. one of them i haven’t heard from since 1998, the other two i’m still in contact with.

we used to go shopping all the time. i slept over at one of the girls’ house. i got to know their parents and family. i got lunch brought to school for me. they were my family in a city that was completely new for me.

then i moved from that city. we finished high school. we went to uni. we met guys. we got married. now the two of them are pregnant and their due dates are about a month apart. i guess we grew up.

what happened to time? how did we get here?

from girls in school uniforms to looking at our photos in our wedding gowns. from having girly crushes on those cute guys to being somebody’s wife. from attending someone’s sweet 17h to attending each other’s weddings.

i’m not finished being a teenager yet. not done with life of no responsibilities. not ready for the big, cold, scary world.
