sunday snack

i like being in the kitchen on sundays because it help pass the time (sundays are so long, don’t you reckon? free day all day long with nothing to do and nowhere to go). i don’t do it very often because after the cooking come the eating but anyhow, i have made these on sundays out of boredom.

this was made around summer time. i wanted to make perkedel but i wasn’t in the mood for greasy food so i baked them. and i used prawns instead of mince meat. they were crunchy because i coated them with breadcrumbs. pretty good. MOH ate some.

my favourite. casava. mmmm… absolutely yummy. salty, bitter, sweet, all in one bite. MOH thinks they taste weird.

these little gems have to be eaten with homemade chilli sauce made of chopped tomatoes, chillies and a little garlic. the chilli sauce is so good, sometimes i make a big batch of it and eat it with plain rice.

casava
(they’re deep-fried. i think they’re pale because the oil was clean)

and yesterday, i made bakwan sayur (vegie fritters). i toyed between this, spring rolls (takes time to thaw the skin) and jalangkote’ (waaaay too much work what with the making the skin from scratch and the wrapping it. plus, the chilli sauce for this takes a lot more work). aaaaandd…. ever since the writer wrote about corn fritters  and i mentioned bakwan sayur in my comment, i kinda wanted to have some. so here they are in their oily glory 🙂

bala2

i think next week i’m going the very simple but incredibly moist chocolate cake. i also want to make pikelets. hmmm, pikelets with chocolate chips…

aaarggghhhhhh!!! have to stop making unhealthy food!!!

t w – i just found them at the supermarket. sekilo hampir 25NOK (bandingin dgn kentang 5 kilo ga sampe 20) tp krn kangen bgt dibeli aja hehe… they also have dead-looking manggis dan rambutan

    ketela itu sweet potato ya?

s – aku ga kuat makan cabe rawit hehehe tp kayaknya kebiasaan jg dari tempat asal kl makan apa gitu pasti ada sambel khususnya.

m – se pake tomat dua, lombok (tergantung kau kuat berapa), bawang putih. cincang kasar semua. masak mi. kl terlalu kental tambahi air sedikit tp jangan di depan dikasih air, encer ki nanti. rasai sesuka hati. biasanya se pasti kasih gula biar nda terlalu kecut, terus garami sedikit. kecap manis jg boleh. sesuai selera ji.
