tall people v. short people

MOH and i are travelling to indo in august. now, i love my man but i hate, hate, hate travelling with him. just air travel.

he’s 194cm. i’m… much shorter. one fifty something. yeah, whatever. it is this huge height difference that makes travelling with him on planes unpleasant.

he likes to sit next to the emergency exit so he can have a bit of space for his way-too-long legs. i hate those seats because there is no seat in front of me for me to rest my legs on. yes, i use seat in front of me as footrest. and speaking about footrest, some airplanes do have proper footrest. they’re attached to, wouldn’t you know it, the seat in front of you. so what happens when you have no seat in front of you? no footrest. boo hoo!!!

i also like to have my handbag near me, preferably near the area where my feet are so i can use at as cushion for my feet. i put on fresh socks on planes, ok, don’t be mortified. and i like to have easy access to my handbag. for books, scarf, socks, pen, lipgloss, handcream, eyedrop, and so on and so on. sitting on emergency exit means you have to put all your luggage on the overhead compartments during take off and landing. no fun.

i once made the mistake of suggesting us to sit separately; he can take his emergency exit seat, and i’ll go sit on my normal seat. i think he got upset. and so we continue to sit next to the emergency door whenever possible. sigh… the things we do for our beloved.

woot woot, you’re flying back to Indo in August? *envy*

Fresh socks? You usually get socks, toothbrush and toothpaste if you take SQ 😀

yep, going back again. twice in a year, that’s unheard of 🙂

sigh… i know. SQ rocks. we’re flying qatar for the first time in august, we’ll see how good/bad they are.

Some people also say that Turkish Airlines gives good service, that’s if you don’t want to be trapped with bunch of chatty TKWs on your flight to Indonesia from Doha 😉

Just don’t fly European (KLM is probably the worst)

totally agree. i’ve only taken klm once and i don’t really remember how it was but i don’t remember having such a bad time. lufthansa, on the other hand… twice and both were baaaad.
hahaha pulang bareng tks nanti paling aku jg dikirain tkw.

oy, those long flights. I sure don’t miss that. When sleeping, reading, or watching movies are all done, what else can one do on the plane other than “melamun-ria”. And let’s not forget the time wasted at multiple airports. Lucky is the word when there is no delay.

For domestic flights, Garuda may be the best option for him, just don’t ever take Merpati. Merpati is not made for tall foreigners.

Have fun and a safe trip. Look forward to see more blog posts about Indonesia.

oh yes, the transit at the many, many, many airports are actually the worst. i had a six hours wait at the frankfurt airport on the way to indo and on the way back to norway and my goodness, that airport is the most boring airport i’ve ever been. next to my local airport here but hey, we have less than 60,000 ppl so we don’t need a big airport.

we’re flying garuda from dps to mks. it’s actually cheaper than lion, for once.

i plan to take pictures this time. the trip home in march was boring. oh, we went to bolangi too. on a super hot day and i kept thinking how lucky you were who got to go there on a rainy day.

Garuda is the best. I hadn’t flown domestic for a long time and was quite surprised with all the nice treatment we received when we flew Garuda. Man, you can tell that I’m the girl who always fly budget airlines, I get overwhelmed when I fly with Garuda *blushes*

i flew garuda to singapore and to jakarta back in march and i, too, was really impressed. the planes were super clean, the food was decent, the flight attendants were friendly and helpful and, the most surprising part, their pilots really know how to land a plane. super smooth landings. awesome!

Another recommended option for domestic flight is Air Asia. Mandala was also good but they stop operating since Jan 2011 *sigh*
I prefer taking them than lion bcs I think lion is such a greedy management. They try to squeeze n packed the passengers as many as possible. Feel like in claustrophobic situation in the cabin.

Took AirAsia to Jakarta from Surabaya two years ago and the flight was delayed 3 hours each way, so I think I’d just stick with Garuda from now on 😉

lho, mandala jg udah ga ada? sempati was my fave but of course they went bankrupt or whatever. mandala was always my number two options. tapi katanya merpati skrg juga bagus. iya, naik lion tuh bener2 ga ada ruang gerak, nafas aja susah.

Wohooo pls info mengapa jgn terbang dg maskapai eropa?
Aku rencana ke oslo utk pertama kalinya bln agustus mendatang. Travel agent sodorin 2 o

Dua2nya sama kisaran harganya 1600 usd.
Klo naik sq ke oslo minim 2x stop kan? Pas aku cari harganya berkali2 lipat ^_^

        May 16, 2011 @ 15:48:26

You’re flying to Oslo? I think one of the best option is to fly with Thai Airlines: Jakarta-Bangkok-Oslo and I heard they have wonderful service too. Never fly with them myself though

      May 16, 2011 @ 15:49:39

It’s the service. Pramugarinya tua2 dan ketus2, makanannya nggak enak.

Asian (and perhaps Arabian) airlines take a better care of their passengers.

Hmm usul menarik pake thai! 🙂 aku crk hrgnya 1900.
Hrg naek sq mahal boo sekitar 8000 usd dg pilihan transit di london, amsterdam, copenhagen, frankfurt stlh 1x stop di sing. Lanjutnya pake sas.
Pake arabian etihad, emirates n turkish aku cek lb murah di kisaran 1400.
Tp nasib visaku msh hrs nunggu 3 mg lg *the judgement day* weuuw …
I think my subconscious mind worried this much. Kemaren bs tiba2 ngimpi *ditolak* dg alasan krn aku pergi sendirian n hrs nyari teman barengan dulu !!
How weird it is … LOL

Kok mahal2 banget ya? Mungkin karena summer months, kalau summer memang mahal. Aku terakhir pulang pake Singapore Airlines (Copenhagen-Singapore-Surabaya) harga 5600 DKK which is around 1000 usd (tapi itu emang harga diskon).

Mending pake Arab airlines daripada Lufthansa or KLM, atau Turkish.
Btw ada blog? Pertama kali ke Oslo?

Udah bikin account di wordpress tapi belum sempat ditulisin apa pun ^_^
Iya ini first time to Oslo.
WOW harga yg kamu dapat fantastis, only 1000 usd n naeknya SQ !!! Super duper crazy !!!
Hari ini barusan dapat info dari travel kalo flightnya ga bisa direbook lagi utk perpanjang time limit sebelum visa keluar krn harga yg kelas segitu sdh N/A. Jadi skrg booking baru n dapetnya sudah hampir 2,000 usd :’-( hiks …
I follow your twitter but it’s protected. Pls accept if u don’t mind 🙂

              GA mmg bagus skrg.
Klo naek connecting tp beda airlines spt yg km suggest SQ ama LH ntar ribet ga prosesnya?
